Newly launched Pet Food Community Pantries supported by the OCF

The Ottawa Paw Pantry is thrilled to announce a pivotal moment for our charity: Ottawa’s first ever Community Pet Food Pantry pilot project has received support from the Ottawa Community Foundation, which will enable us to take our mission to new heights.

We are deeply honoured and excited to share that we have been selected as a $10,000 grant recipient. This has a significant impact on our ability to serve the beloved pets of our community.

In a world where every wag of a tail and every purr deserves a chance, we believe that no pet should go hungry. Our pantry is here to support pet owners in times of need and ensure that our four-legged friends are well-fed and cared for.

As some of you may know, the Ottawa Community Foundation is a public, charitable organization created by and for the people of Ottawa. The Foundation works with donors and the community at large as a trusted partner to fulfill impact philanthropy and bring about positive, systemic, and sustainable change.

The grant from the Ottawa Community Foundation will help us in the following ways:

🐾 Establish community pantries around Ottawa

🌟 Offer a consistent supply of high-quality pet food for those in need.

🤝 Strengthen our partnerships with local organizations and businesses to create a more comprehensive network of support for our community.

📚 Develop innovative initiatives that address the evolving needs of pet owners and their companions.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Ottawa Community Foundation for believing in our cause and entrusting us with this invaluable grant. We also want to thank our dedicated volunteers, donors, and fellow animal advocates who have been the driving force behind our Community Pet Food Pantries.

Pantry locations

To make sure we reach pet families in need, we decided to partner with existing community locations in the city whose ties to Ottawa residents run deep. By working with them, we know that food will reach pet parents seamlessly, while also adding a resource to their existing offerings. At present, we have four community pantry locations:

These pantries are in locations where staff and volunteers have a deep understanding of the need for compassion. This initiative is a collaboration of caring individuals, local businesses, and community organizations dedicated to making a difference.

More importantly, pet parents in Ottawa are able to access food resources more readily by dropping in to one of the centres.

Our hope is that this pilot project proves to be a sustainable model to deliver cat and dog food, and ultimately expand this model to reach other areas of Ottawa.

How you can help

We can’t do this without you. With your support, we can further expand our efforts to work towards ensuring that no pet in our community goes hungry, and that their owners are treated with respect as they receive the assistance and resources they need to provide the best care possible for their furry family members.

The greatest way you can give back is to make a financial donation. Through partnerships with local pet food stores, we are able to buy the kind of food that is most in need at discounted rates.
